Shore Temple is a structural site made of granite blocks dating back to 8th century. As this temple is facing the Bay-of-Bengal, it is known as Shore Temple. It is the oldest construction of stone temples in south India. This temple is located in Mahabalipuram, a small village in southern part of Chennai. The temple was constructed when the kingdom was under the rule of Narasimhavarman belonging to the Pallava Dynasty. Ensure to visit the Shore temple either for sunset or sunrise. It would be amazing to see the beautiful backdrop. Later, UNESCO marked this site as the world heritage site in the year 1984.
Kapaleeshwarar Temple is situated in Mylapore, solely dedicated to Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. This ancient structure reflects Dravidian architecture that was built dating back in the7th century during the reign of Vijayanagar rulers. Located in the north of Chennai,Pulicat is a historical seashore town. Pulicat lake bird sanctuary is a worth visiting wildlife park. Vandalur Zoo, originally name as Arignar Anna Zoological Park is 31 kilometers from themain town and 15 kilometers from Chennai Airport. It is located in the southwestern part of Chennai. And is considered as the largest wildlife park in India in terms of area coverage of 1300 acres. This public zoo is affiliated with Central Zoo Authority of India. In this zoo, there are about 47 species of mammals, 31 species of reptiles, near about 63 species of birds, 25 species of fishes and so on. If you are taking your kids for one day vacation, ensure to spend at least half a day at Vandalur Zoo.
A visit to this railway museum would lead you back to the British period of India.This museum has a varied collection of sizable steam engines from the British India. Many vintage coaches like the Ooty trains are showcased at the exhibitions. A toy train is also available offering a ride around the museum premises on regular basis. The entry time is 10.00 AM to 6.00 PM (although the last group can enter at 5:30) every Tuesday to Sunday. The site is closed on Mondays and also on national holidays.

Enjoy the mammoth cosmic shows within the hemispherical aluminium inner dome and get educated about the astronomical details. This Planetarium is located at Kotturpuram within the premises of the Periyar Science and Technology Centre. This ancient Church was built in 16th century by Portuguese explorers. This structure is built over the tomb of St Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. Earlier it had a neo-gothic texture and then this structure was reconstructed by the British rulers with the statue of a cathedral which still stands today.

Being a heritage museum Dakhinachitra has a collection of 18 authentic historical houses with exhibitions which reflect a mirror of ancient cultures of the world. You can visit Dakhinachitra every day 10.00 AM to 6.00 PM except Tuesday.
A short visit to AVM studio would give a bit different taste in your tour. Located in Vadapalani it is the oldest surviving studio in India.
If you are a lover and fascinated about art, then this is the right place for you. It is said to be the first ever 3D museum in India. In this Museum you could find astonishing 3D arts that would leave you speechless.
This is an exhibition conducted by Tamil Nadu Tourism department. This exhibition takes place in Island Ground, Mount Road. If you are planning to visit this fair then present between 3.00 PM to 10.00 PM any day of the week. Tickets for adults are Rs 20, for kids above 3 years is Rs 10.
