As everyone deserves to celebrate their birthday then why not a city? Madras or Chennai is one of the populous cities located in South India. This very city got its identity on 22nd August 1639. All the Chennaites find the day very auspicious and so the celebration of the foundation day of Chennai is known as The Madras week celebration. This special day carries significance as on this day the silver land where the fort St. George is located today was transacted by the East India Company. It is said that the deal was made by Francis Day and Andrew Cogan. It is believed that this significant deal was done on 22nd August.

The plan of the celebrating the foundation of Chennai was originated from a meeting conducted by the trustees of Chennai Heritage Foundation in the year 2004. This idea was proposed by Vincent D’Souza, a Chennai based journalist. Gradually this special day has gained immense adoration as the people of Chennai do not want to miss a single chance to enjoy this grand celebration. Here a number of tips are given for you on how the city celebrated the awesomeness of its legacy during the Madras Week 2017, and will have a few more to celebrate in the oncoming days.
Ways of Celebration of Madras Week 2017
It surely would have been a pleasure to involve yourself in that auspicious occasion to some wonderful entertainments such as a heritage ride. Cycling Yogis organization conducted a heritage cycle ride on the bank of Adyar River. The program venue is as given below.

On the occasion of Madras Week Celebration, the Department of History and tourism is organized few special events at Stella Maris College. And there’s one still waiting….
On 28/8/17 there will be an exhibition at Fort St. George. At that exhibition, you would get traditional food courts, cultural games, philately, ancient photo gallery, Cinematic Madras through a bioscope and so on.
During this unique and splendid festival entertain yourself with a number of interesting contests. Contest details are given below:
For this contest register your name as a team of two. You will be given a table and then you need to set up a stall and prepare a delicious dish which reminds you of Namma Madras beach. The team prepares the best dish wins an exciting prize. There are no restrictions on the ages. The time is from 10: AM to 12 noon. Place: The learning community at Quest 4/375 Chari Avenue, Palavakkam Chennai.
What’s Chennai city without its culture… even in little things like coffee. There was a dedicated event to explore the food-culture of Chennai amid the aroma of the brews:
Mylapore food Walk: 19th August 2017
The starting point: Indian Bank, North Mada St and R K Mutt Road, Mylapore.

Military Heritage Exhibition: 11th August -24th August 2017
Hosted by CP Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation, this very exhibition is fully dedicated to the Indian Army to our armed force.
